STAINES were foiled after having Harrow St Mary's in big trouble on Saturday.
New opener Gary Hutchinson (40) and stalwart Dave Fletcher (24) got Staines off to a positive start. Brett Archer, having taken over as captain from the injury-hit Duncan Foster, then made 22 and fine knocks from Chris Bolton (27) and Andy Hall (20) enabled him to declare at190-9.
Harrow were soon reeling at 60-5 against tight bowling from Andrew Hall (2-33), Alex Ardis (1-4), James Rose (2-65) and Steve Weller (2-11). They decided to play for a draw
and were flattered to reach 138-7 thanks to M. Darmaseda (56).
This Saturday Staines face top-of-the-table Highgate at Faulkners (1.30).
Sunday result: Staines 258-3 (D. Brown 138, A. Hall 59),
