A Kingston schoolgirl and her grandmother used flower power to bag the top prize in a local environmental competition.
Lucy Vane, 13, and Antoinette Hookway used their petal perspicacity to see off the opposition in a How well do you know your wild flowers?' competition organised by Kingston Council ecology and environment office.
The pair were invited to the Guildhall to receive their prize book, Flora Britannica, donated by Borders, from the Mayor Councillor Don Jordan.
Marie-Claire Edwards, Kingston Council ecology and environmental education officer, said: "We had a very good response, which just shows that young people show a keen interest in their natural environment.
"We are trying to nurture a love of nature in the Royal borough's open spaces with a series of walks and trails throughout the summer."
