AN elderly woman had £200 stolen from her home after she was duped into letting two bogus callers enter her home.
At about noon last Friday, the 70-year-old woman who lives in Tolpits Lane, Watford, answered the door to two men who told her they were from the water board and needed to check the water.
One of the men went into the kitchen with the woman and turned on the tap, telling her to stay in the kitchen while they carried out other checks. The men then went into the lounge and stole £200.
Both men were white, aged between 21 and 22 years and were about 5ft 8ins tall. They were both of slim build and were wearing navy clothing.
DC Mick Ward said: "This was a callous offence and I would appeal to anyone who can assist me in this investigation to contact me.
"There is a no 7 bus stop directly opposite where this offence happened - anyone waiting for a bus at the time of the offence might have seen something that could assist us in this investigation."
