A SENIOR teacher at Chigwell School has been suspended following allegations of an "inappropriate relationship" with a sixth form girl, the Guardian can reveal.
John Knapman, who is also an Epping Forest district councillor and a member of the authority's ten-member cabinet, is head of economics at the High Road school where he is also a senior housemaster and housemaster of Penn House, the school's website states.
A statement issued by the school on Tuesday evening stated: "The school confirms that a teacher has been suspended following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a sixth form pupil. Internal procedures are ongoing."
