Police Inspector, Gerard Boyer has been awarded the Assistant Commissioner's Commendation for the leadership and professionalism he showed during the Ladbrooke Grove rail tragedy.
Inspector Boyer was on the scene closest to the worst of the damage, and began directing casualties to safety.
He liaised with the head of a nearby school to use the site as a casualty reception area, while making sure that children were kept away from the scenes of devastation.
