A DEDICATION ceremony for a new memorial in honour of victims of the New Cross fire is to take place this weekend.
The stained glass window in St Andrew's Church, Breakspears Road, Brockley, which has been funded by the Home Office, will serve as a memory to the 14 people who died in a house fire in New Cross Road in 1981. St Andrew's was suggested because many of the youngsters attended the youth club there.
Chairman of the New Cross Fire Families Committee George Francis, whose 17-year-old son Gerry died in the fire, said: "The artist, has done a wonderful job. The glass is immaculate it really dances with colour."
The service takes place at the church at 3pm on Saturday.
