Seven surgeons and a nurse from Kingston Hospital are currently scaling the heights of Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, to boost funds for a new cancer unit.
The team left on Friday to ascend the 19,340ft peak. By Monday they had climbed 12,000 feet up the mountain and sent a message to the hospital saying that they were in good spirits and enjoying a rest day.
They have been in training since last August, slotting their get-fit regime into their working day.
A dinner celebrating the team's return home will be held at Raven's Ait in Kingston on Saturday, January 25. Tickets are available by calling 020 8934 3021.
