THE opening of a new medicine centre at Whipps Cross Hospital has dramatically cut patient waiting times.
The Emergency Medical Centre, which was opened ahead of schedule on January 2, has enjoyed a successful first few weeks and has been able to maintain a low level of bed occupancy.
Many patients, who would usually attend accident and emergency, have been discharged by the centre within 24 hours.
As a result 64 per cent of patients admitted to the A&E are being seen in less than four hours which is an all-time high for the hospital.
