Lambeth Council has announced the appointment of a new executive director of social services.
Andrew Webster, who is taking up the post in early spring, is currently acting director of the public services research directorate at the Audit Commission and has overseen projects on issues including drugs, NHS waiting-list times, PFI and special education.
Mr Webster has a background in local government and NHS planning and management.
Executive member for social services Roger Giess said: "We are delighted to welcome Andrew Webster, with his breadth of experience, to Lambeth."
Other changes include the departure of Lambeth's deputy chief executive Robert Leak who is becoming chief executive of Enfield Council in April.
He said: "I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve at Lambeth and now it's time for me to take up new challenges."
Leader of Lambeth Council Peter Truesdale said the council would be recruiting a replacement as soon as possible.
He said: "We're sorry to see Robert leave but are grateful for the many good things he has achieved during his time with Lambeth, such as developing key business improvement strategies and overseeing further substantial improvements in housing benefits."
