A THOUGHTFUL family who found an abandoned grave cross are looking to give it back to the dead man's friends or relatives.
Neil White, 36, and his daughter, Simone White, 6, of Southcroft Road, Orpington, found the broken wooden cross, on Mayfield Avenue, on January 19.
It was propped against a street nameplate at least a mile from the nearest cemetery. The commemorative metal plaque reads: "Ronald Terence Holley, died August 3, 2001, aged 61 years."
Mr White said: "I drove past it the day before and thought it was a bit odd. The following day I went to get it so I could try and reunite it with the dead man's family.
"It must have been vandals. What a horrible thing to do."
