A PROUD mother is having sleepless nights as her sailor son prepares to depart to the Persian Gulf.
Anita Golding, 44, of Weston Grove, Bromley, worries about her 23-year-old son, Leading Seaman Christopher Hooper, who will set sail aboard the naval frigate, HMS Richmond.
Her son has been in the navy since he was 18 and, despite all her fears as a possible war with Iraq approaches, she can't hide how proud she is of him.
The mother of three said: "He leaves on February 10 and I am very proud of him because he left school at 16 but has really made something of himself."
