A ZERO tolerance approach to benefit fraud has been declared in Bromley after a 31-year-old woman admitted trying to claim more than £6,500 illegally.
Bromley Magistrates' Court sentenced Augustine Dannyame, of Escott Gardens, Mottingham, to 120 hours of community service, for claiming housing benefit on a property she had owned for six months.
The case was brought by Greenwich Council's award-winning anti-fraud team, which has worked in partnership with Bromley Council since April 2002.
There are seven more prosecutions in the pipeline as part of the scheme.
Anyone with information about suspected benefit fraud should call the anonymous hotline on 0800 1696975.
