The Beddington Link Road also known as Coomber Way received the official seal of approval at a ceremony last week.
Mayor of Sutton Councillor John Dodwell cut the ribbon to officially open the road which has provided a direct link from Beddington Lane to the A23 in Croydon since November 26.
Its rationale is to provide access to a range of industrial sites and the Tramlink depot, bypassing Beddington Village.
The 750m second phase of the road cost £2.75million.
Operations director Peter Miller joined Coun Dodwell at the ceremony (pictured).
