GREENWICH University has no immediate plans to raise tuition fees but has given a cautious welcome to Government plans for higher education.
A White Paper gives higher education institutions in England and Wales the right to raise tuition fees to £3,000 a year. Colleges will also get a six per cent funding increase for three years.
A University of Greenwich spokesman welcomed the cash injection and reintroduction of maintenance grants.
He said: "The proposals will not come into effect until 2006 and we have no plans to raise fees at this time."
