Barnet Copthall's Sarah Price, resently named British swimmer of the year, is continuing the magnificent form that brought her the national award for 2002.
Contesting three World Cup meetings last week in Paris, Stockholm and Berlin the 23-year-old was unbeaten in a total of six backstroke races, achieving a 100m and 200m double at all three venues.
In Paris, she set a new meeting record of 2mins 5.32secs for the 200m and her time for the 100m, 59.38secs, was only 0.61secs outside her British record.
Moving on to Stockholm, Sarah led all the way in the 100m, clocking 59.02secs, well ahead of Japan's Nonko Inada and Louise Ostendstadt of Denmark. Her time for the 200m, 2mins 4.67secs, was only 0.23secs outside her European record. In Berlin, Sarah again led all the way in the 100m, winning in 59.08secs, confirming her superiority over Inada with Mi Nakamura third (59.1secs).
Sarah said: "It's nice to finish by winning all the 100m and 200m backstroke races over the three rounds."
