Barnet felt the full backlash from Dagenham's last-gasp FA Cup defeat by Norwich as the home side ran riot on Tuesday.

The Daggers were devastating in the first half, launching wave after wave of attacks Barnet simply could not cope with and went in at the break with a 3-0 lead.

Junior McDougald gave Dagenham an eighth-minute lead. Barnet's defence failed to clear a return delivery into the box by Paul Terry, and the ball dropped for McDougald to fire a low shot into the net.

The Bees, under strong presssure, and missing suspended midfield strongman John Doolan, survived until the 37th minute when Dagenham went further ahead. Danny Shipp hit a fierce 35-yard free kick that diving keeper Danny Naisbitt made a valiant attempt to keep out.

Three minutes later, Dagenham went 3-0 up when John McGrath hit a long cross from the left that hit an upright, and Steve West scored from two yards.

Barnet roared back at he start of the second half, and might have drawn level. In quick succession both Wayne Purser and Neil Midgley burst clear, but their final efforts were tame. Top scorer Junior Agogo also had two decent chances but twice dragged his efforts wide.

Barnet's fate was sealed when Mark Stein grabbed Dagenham's fourth goal in the 55th minute. West beat Greg Heald in an aerial duel and Stein, following up, rounded Naisbitt and slotted the ball home.

Agogo fired Barnet's consolation goal in the 67th minute, following good work by Dannny Brown.

But it was Dagenham's night and they completed the rout in the 85th minute when Stein stabbed in his second goal from close range.
