Passengers using the borough's rail network this weekend faced hour-long hold-ups after a catalogue of delays plagued the train lines leading into East Croydon station.
Three separate causes have been cited as the reason behind Saturday's (January 25) long delays on the borough's rail network.
A signal failure, maintenance work as well as lack of drivers for services meant that dozens of trains were backed up queuing to get into the busy station for most of the afternoon. Some services arrived more than an hour after they were supposed to.
A Network Rail spokesman said the delays were "regrettable" but that following the correction of a signal failure at 1.30pm most services were back to normal by early evening.
