Councillor Hugh Malyan pleads with Prescott over taxes (Letters, Guardian, January 15) regarding the Labour council leader's warning of an up to 30 per cent increase in Croydon's council tax in April. I suggest that he pleads with Tony Blair.
I well remember that during last May's campaigning for the council elections, the PM took time out to visit Croydon.
I even remember him being interviewed by the Croydon Guardian.
After all, Croydon was seen as a close call.
If Tony's visit helped to sway those handful of votes in Waddon that decided control of the council, then perhaps we should get something in return rather than cuts in government resources.
