Detectives investigating the murder of a Czech au-pair who was found suffocated under a block of flats in New Southgate almost two years ago have issued a warrant for the arrest of her former boyfriend.

Twenty-five-year-old Dana Prokesova was found in a garage at Mason House in Palmers Road on April 13, 2001, with a plastic bag over her head and around her neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene by police.

But officers have now issued a warrant for the arrest of her former boyfriend, known to Ms Prokesova's friends as Shaun, who police believe fled the country following her murder.

Detective Inspector Carl Mehta said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.

Ms Prokesova, who was identified by her dental records, worked in Mill Hill as an au-pair from June 2000 until January 2001. She returned to her home in the Czech Republic on January 28 to visit her family but was seen in London on March 2. She was reported missing four days later.
