ROSE Bruford College kicks off its spring season with an evening of sexual innuendo and racy dialogue. Based on the Broadway play of the same name, The Hot L Baltimore, by Lanford Wilson, was one of the most controversial sitcoms of the 1970s.

The play is set in the once-beautiful Hotel Baltimore. Now run down, the hotel's sign even reflects its dilapidated state the "e" has burned out, hence, Hot L Baltimore.

The audience will witness an eclectic bunch of characters including Suzy Marta Rocket, a Colombian prostitute, Mr Morse, always on the brink of death, and the eccentric Mrs Bellotti.

Then there is the often heard but never seen 26-year-old son of Mrs. Bellotti, Moose, who was the practical joker of the bunch. He has smeared butter on the walls, acted out the Poseidon Adventure in his bathtub and glued himself to the ceiling.

If you fancy an evening of racy and provocative theatre, the Rose Bruford could be the answer.
