A NURSERY is getting a cash boost to create more places thanks to funding from the National Lottery.
Greenfields Nursery in Recreation Road, Southall, is set to receive more than £47,000 from the New Opportunities Fund (NOF), the National Lottery's good causes distributor, as part of their Building Neighbourhood Nurseries programme. The grant is set to create an extra 38 places at the nursery which will be refurbished and renovated to accommodate the space. Kate Whelan, head of Southall Early Years and Education Centre was delighted with the announcement. She said: "This is a very exciting venture for us. We are determined to provide support for the parents of very young children who would otherwise find it difficult to access affordable quality nursery provisions." The extra cash will go towards new baby places, a baby library and educational resources. The NOF has allocated £100 million to this programme and aims to create quality nursery care for young children. Baroness Jill Pitkeathley, chair of the NOF, said: "These grants are paving the way for the creation of new childcare places by investing in much needed buildings."
