A Sutton-based animal charity which takes in unwanted pets could be forced to turn away new arrivals unless it can find several of its animals new homes.
The current crisis has hit the small animal section of Animal Lifeline, which takes in guinea pigs, hamsters and chinchillas.
Christine Redwood, who has been in charge for more than five years, said the charity's capacity was near "bursting point".
Anyone interested in offering animals a new home, in return for a donation to the charity, can call 0208 2740034.
