MP Paul Burstow has spoken out against the introduction of fines' for councils found guilty of bed-blocking patient release from hospital. Mr Burstow's comments follow recent figures showing a national increase of 19 per cent in emergency readmissions to hospital within 28 days of discharge. He said: "Government figures show clearly that taxpayers' money is being wasted in ever greater sums."
