Founders of Sutton-based charity Cry in the Dark are looking for keen cyclists to join them on a bike ride through Romania.

In what has been billed as the charity's most ambitious fund-raising event to date, Steve Cooper and appeals co-ordinator Pete Smith say cyclists can expect to see stunning mountains and countryside.

The four-day ride is from the capital Bucharest to Comanesti, where the charity built and now runs a home for more than 20 special needs children.

It is hoped the ride, from June 19 to 24, will attract cyclists willing to raise a minimum of £1,500 in sponsorship.

In return they will be provided with flights, accommodation, meals, fundraising, training and moral support.

Bikers can also be rest assured that medical help, a bike repairer and support vehicles will be on hand throughout the 230-mile trip.

Mr Cooper said: "If you enjoy bike riding this will be a fantastic experience and at the same time you will be helping the work of Cry in the Dark enormously.

"This is a huge undertaking but obviously we know Romania very well."
