At Sutton's Benhill-Crescent Horticultural Society's AGM held on January 21, we heard with satisfaction that at this major allotment site only six plots stand vacant.
They are all of a small size and are ideal for a beginner or the elderly.
The excellent take-up of plots illustrates people's sound instinct that frozen peas from the supermarket can never replace fresh vegetables.
Our trading finances are sound and it is no wonder our various committees were re-elected unanimously.
Our chairman Bernard Chandler, who is retiring after giving sterling service, has been succeeded by Peter Thornton.
The charity for the year the Starlight Children's Foundation for seriously and terminally ill children received a splendid £780.
