How shocking that a resident should be asked for identification when presenting a cheque at Budgens in Cheam Village.
The duty manager informed that person his staff were told to ask for proof of identity if he or she looked dodgy'.
What utter contempt from the manager of this shop.
This is where competition is needed.
If it weren't for a few "oddballs" in Cheam, the recent supermarket proposal would probably be on its way to becoming reality.
There is still hope for the majority despite the closure of the Dairy Crest yard in Ewell Road on February 1.
It will be a great opportunity to have a supermarket on this site and I am certain the residents of this one-horse part of the borough will notice the difference in attitude of the service they will receive.
In the meantime, your correspondent will be made most welcome to spend money in Sutton.
