LONGFIELD HILL WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Members were sorry to learn that Georgina Huggett, who now lives in France, was unable to visit us today because she was in hospital, following a fall. Everyone signed a card expressing our disappointment and good wishes.
It was interesting that three members, including the president, had birthdays on June 9 and all three were called June!
Arrangements were made for those attending the Kent Show at Detling in July and the BBQ at Hope Hill. Mr Laurie Manser, our speaker, came bearing a gift of some beautiful sweetpeas from his garden for the raffle, which were won later by Grace Ince. He then talked fondly of his memories of being a "Garden Boy" all his life. The highlight must have been recognition of several types of daffodil cultivated by him, one gaining and RHS Award.
Our meeting on July 14 will include a strawberry tea and poems. There will also be a bring-and-buy sale in aid of the ACWW Albania Project.
We meet in the Scout Hall from 1.30pm to 4pm and are pleased to welcome visitors and new members, so why not come along?
