A NEW toy library for children under four years old has been officially opened.
Former EastEnders star Sophie Lawrence opened Downham Toy Library at Downham Way Family Church, in a ceremony attended by 73 families.
Children enjoyed face painting and stories at the May 27 launch.
The library is part of the Government's Sure Start initiative, which aims to give children under four the best start in life.
Toy library spokesman Diane Mulholland said: "It's so important to get children playing. It helps them develop socially and gets them to explore their own skills.
"And they can be messy as well, we won't stop them."
The library is open every Wednesday from 10am to noon. For more information, call 07854 857773
