AN MP and former SAS soldier made a citizen's arrest after a flasher exposed himself to young children.
Gravesham MP Adam Holloway was walking down Parrock Street towards King Street when he saw a man standing outside Kings Diner Cafe.
Mr Holloway, believing the man facing the window to be acting extremely oddly, walked on and then circled back.
He said: "I was hoping it wasn't what I thought it was because his penis appeared to be hanging out through the front of his jeans."
The former soldier with the Grenadier Guards says as it was 2pm, the cafe was filled with women and young girls.
The man exposing himself was a metre away from the window and in the line of sight of a grandmother, a few mothers and a group of five girls, aged between eight and twelve.
The former undercover journalist walked to the traffic barrier at the junction of Parrock Street and King Street, where he was told by the worker manning it the flasher had been there for some time but he had not called the police.
The 39-year-old politician said: "I couldn't just let him get away with it so I kept an eye out and manned the barricade while the other guy went and off to call the police."
Five minutes later, there was no sign of the police or the guard. The Gravesham MP enlisted the help of a lorry driver who had driven up to the barrier and together they approached the pervert.
Mr Holloway said to him: "You appear to have been exposing your penis. The police are on their way and you'll have to stay until they arrive."
The stranger pulled his sweatshirt down to hide himself and said: "I ripped my jeans and I didn't have time to go to Primark."
Mr Holloway did not believe him and held him outside the cafe until the police came and arrested him.
He said: "It was very unpleasant. I can't imagine what those little girls thought while he was standing there. I had to take action."
Police confirmed a man was arrested for indecent exposure and bailed until today.
