STUDENTS have learned the benefits of recycling old rubbish and furniture as part of an environmental awareness campaign.
Eight pupils aged between 11 and 15 from Howbury Centre Referral Unit, Slade Green Road, Erith, attended an open day at Green-Works' warehouse in Nathan Way, Woolwich.
Green-Works is a charity which works in socially- deprived areas and recycles office furniture.
Students learned about recycling at home and saw how the charity gets old furniture to those who need it.
Colin Crooks, Founder and Chief Executive of Green-Works, said: "We showed them how redundant items can be transformed into a solution which helps the environment."
The students also signed an environmental pledge to help create a cleaner London.
The project was part of London Sustainability Week, which runs until Sunday.
