A HORTICULURAL society's smallest show of the year attracted a record number of junior entrants.
Hayes Horticultural Society's rose show saw a dozen youngsters, aged from two to 12, challenge the 17 adult exhibitors with some colourful competition, especially the arrangement of flowers to include a rose.
Pictures or patterns painted onto a stone also caught the attention of visitors to the show, held at Hayes Village Hall.
Winners include five-year-old Elizabeth Kelly; Colin May for best individual rose bloom and best rose exhibit; and Doug Wingrave for highest number of points.
Jean Reeve's ladies day entry at the June 4 show won the Mrs Schroder Cup for floral art.
The society's main summer show takes place at Hayes Village Hall on July 9, from 2.30pm.
