THE British Heart Foundation (BHF) used last week's Help a Heart Week by calling on women to get a check-up.
More than 2,000 women a week die in Britain from heart-related illnesses.
Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, held events to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Staff offered women checks for hypertension high blood pressure which can cause heart attacks and strokes.
Women could also learn about preventing heart disease.
BHF Professor Anna Dominiczak said: "Over 2,400 women will die from heart and circulatory disease during Heart Week and we are desperate to stop so many women and their families being affected."
