A LOVE cheat magistrate whose week began with a tabloid newspaper expos of his private life, ended with him stepping down as a school governor.
Michael Dando quit the board of governors at Leigh City Technology College after being linked to a call girl and being arrested in connection with a deception.
Former Brent ward councillor Mr Dando, who was mayor of Dartford from 2000 to 2001, has also temporarily stepped down as a magistrate.
The 47-year-old's week of woe started when The Sun published details of his relationship with Suzanne Connolly, 28.
It detailed how they met chronicling their many secret trysts as the father-of-three lavished thousands of pounds in gifts on her.
It then emerged Mr Dando, who has left his family home in Fleet Avenue, Dartford, had been arrested in connection with a deception.
He was questioned on May 25 and released on police bail until July, pending a decision on whether to prosecute him.
He then temporarily quit as chairman of the bench at Dartford Magistrates' Court saying he would return once his name had been cleared.
On Friday he resigned as a governor at Leigh City, Green Street Green Road, Dartford, following a discussion with headteacher John Green.
The previous day, council leader Councillor Kenneth Leadbeater, who is also a governor at the school, had said his position was being reviewed.
Mr Green said: "While there is an ongoing concern about his behaviour and his actions, Michael Dando considered he should resign.
"It makes obvious sense because of the position of the school in the community and the impact his behaviour will have, even if the allegations surrounding him are not true."
Mr Dando's wife Julie declined to comment, saying she had been instructed not to speak out by her solicitor.
And Mr Dando, who has confirmed he is getting divorced, was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
