THE Standards Board for England has decided not to investigate Greenwich Council leader Chris Roberts, following a complaint from Tory councillor Spencer Drury.
The Standards Board governs the conduct of politicians in local government.
In April this year Cllr Drury reported the council leader to the board, claiming Cllr Roberts had broken council confidentiality rules by revealing publicly which way members had voted during a private meeting over the closure of Abbey Wood School.
Now, Cllr Roberts says he stands by his actions in the long-running debate over Abbey Wood School.
In a letter to News Shopper he said: "Cllr Drury's referral to the Standards Board was on the basis that I revealed how he voted on the School Organisation Committee.
"As I said in a letter to him, no-one could have been in any doubt about where either of us stood."
Cllr Drury said he is disappointed by the board's decision.
He said: "The rules stopped me from ever saying actually there was cross party concern about the plans, even from Labour.
"However, Chris Roberts has found it perfectly okay to turn this into a bash the Tories' issue, rather than address many people's concerns about education in Greenwich.
"I have never hidden how I voted but by sticking to the rules I've hidden how Labour councillors voted."
