A BUS company has yet to take responsibility for a crash which saw three parked cars destroyed after a bus driver blacked-out at the wheel.
The bus was travelling down Green Lane in Eltham last Wednesday at 6.15pm when the driver fell unconscious.
It careered out of control leaving a trail of destruction and writing off three parked cars before coming to a halt.
The bus was not in service at the time and had no passengers on board.
Police were called to the scene and paramedics took the driver to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Traffic police are investigating the smash. A spokesman said: "It's incredibly lucky no-one was killed or seriously injured."
Now outraged residents whose cars were written-off say Stagecoach are denying liability.
Green Lane resident John Durrant, 62, a senior lecturer at Ravensbourne College in Chislehurst says the bus company is trying to weasel out of its responsibilities.
He said: "I feel that the public needs to be aware these guys will not accept responsibility for their actions and are in effect operating without insurance."
"It's appalling the way they're trying it on."
A spokesman for Stagecoach says it has not yet admitted liability for the crash.
He added: "We can fully understand the concerns of the individuals affected by the accident and we are also concerned for the welfare of the driver of the bus.
"We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the issue of liability, and we will be working hard to complete our inquiries as soon as possible."
