THE hardships of living in a wet, windy, medieval encampment were brought to life at Bexley's annual history fair.
Hosted by Bexley Heritage Trust at the historic Hall Place, Bourne Road, Bexley, the fair transported people from Roman times right up to the present day with a series of activities, encampments and displays.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms helped give a taste of how uncomfortable life could be in the past but it failed to put off the thousands of people who visited the event.
Roman soldiers were joined by medieval archers and knights, Napoleonic infantry and Second World War troops who demonstrated their own skills and gave a glimpse into their lifestyles.
Inside Hall Place, the house came alive with its former Tudor history.
Visitors were able to see servants at work in the kitchens while the gentry played croquet on the lawns.
There was also live music, a mini- theatre, Punch and Judy, a craft fair, stalls and entertainments.
