SECRET GARDEN: The owners of 18 Silverdale Road, Bexleyheath, are opening their garden to the public this Sunday to raise cash for Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice. The garden is open from 2pm to 5pm and refreshments will be available at number 16. Admission is £1 for adults and 50p for children.
VOLUNTEERS MEET: Dartford District Volunteer Bureau is holding its annual meeting on June 15, in the Colebert Centre, King Edward Avenue. The 7pm meeting will be followed by a buffet.
LIGHTING UP: Crayford Rotary Club has ridden to the rescue of St Paulinus Church in Manor Road, Crayford. Floodlights illuminating the historic church and installed to mark the Millennium, had fallen into disrepair. Now the rotary club has given the church the necessary £500 to buy new more robust lighting units.
50TH BIRTHDAY: Bexley Grammar School has celebrated its 50th birthday by designing and installing a stained glass window. It was the brainchild of art and design teacher Sue Wieck and pupils and staff worked for six months with artist Janette Smith to design it. The window includes a rainbow represented the school houses and a tree to symbolise how the school has grown.
ON FOOT: A healthy walk through Foots Cray Meadows, North Cray, takes place every Wednesday between 10.30am and 11.30am. Just turn up and take part. Meet at the bus stop near Leafield Lane, off North Cray Road.
