A THIEF made off with a £1,250 laptop computer after a resident left a door open to let in some fresh air.
The 35-year-old Swanley woman was in the kitchen as she heard the door slam. She later realised she had been burgled.
The thief escaped with the computer and jewellery from her bedroom.
In a similar incident on the same day, a purse was stolen from a 75-year-old woman's home in Swanley after an intruder got in through an open door.
North Kent police are advising people to lock doors and windows while in their gardens, keep items of value out of reach and not to leave a lot of cash in the house.
Anyone with information on the May 26 incidents should call Gravesend police on 01474 565037 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
