A BOXING club giving kids a "sense of purpose" is asking the community to get more involved with its work.
Eltham and District Amateur Boxing Club, based in the Ferrier Community Hall, Kidbrooke Park Road, Kidbrooke, was founded in 1946.
It has 60 members, aged from nine to 34, who attend the three-weekly session.
Heavyweight champion Henry Cooper, who became the first boxer to knockdown Muhammad Ali, in 1963, fought for the club as a junior in the 1940s.
Chairman Steve Barrett said: "The club keeps the kids off the street and gives them a sense of purpose, as well as something to look forward to."
