A PETITION with 1,000 signatures is calling for an animal farm to be fitted with vandal-proof fencing following a savage attack.
Four months ago, a large dog was let loose at the farm in Maryon Wilson Park, Thorntree Road, Charlton, after a hole was deliberately cut in the fence.
The dog's rampage left 40 birds dead and one sheep mauled while a ewe died four days later from shock.
The petition requests Greenwich Council fits vandal-resistant fencing to the animal enclosures at the farm.
The council says new fencing would require "a high degree of robustness in order to provide security for the animals and resist attack yet still provide maximum visibility for the visitors".
Replacement fencing is under consideration. The council is expected to receive a report on the issue shortly.
