Orpington Priory, built in built in 1290 and set in attractive gardens, is home to Bromley Museum.
The Museum holds temporary exhibitions and events throughout the year, and also has permanent displays about the history of the local area.
Among the attractions are: The Archaeology Gallery, which provides an insight into life from 300,000 years ago to the Norman invasion; Your Place, which features games, clothes, activities and books from the 1950s up to the present day; and a room dedicated to MP, author, friend of Darwin, archaeologist, geologist, anthropologist and zoologist Lord Avebury.
Opening details: April 1 to October 31: Sunday to Friday, 1pm 5pm; Saturdays, 10am - 5pm. November 1 March 31: As before but closed Sundays and bank holidays. Entry is free
