A SECONDARY school could be closed for two days while staff strike over pay cuts.
Staff at Northbrook School in Leahurst Road, Lee, planned to strike on March 23 and March 24, following a previous one day strike on March 9.
Members of the National Union of Teachers are angry at a staff reorganisation they say will cut the annual salary of four teachers with head of department or head of year status by £2,000.
An offer to ring-fence the afffected staff’s salaries for three years has been rejected by the union, who claim that is merely the statutory minimum.
Lewisham NUT secretary Martin Powell-Davies said: “Good education and good schools need a motivated and valued team of teachers.
“If governors really value education, they need to resolve this dispute.”
Headteacher Father Richard Peers has said he is “deeply saddened” by the action.
