A NEW primary school has had its official opening ceremony.
Tubbenden Primary School in Sandy Bury, Orpington, was formed by merging Tubbenden Infant with Tubbenden Junior School.
The schools were known as the Federation of Tubbenden Schools before becoming a fully united Primary School, which now has 585 pupils aged five to 11.
Pupils performed songs and poems, and unveiled a new set of school gates which they helped to design. A plaque to mark the occasion was also unveiled in the newly extended school hall.
Headteacher Michael Youlton said: “I would particularly like to thank our children for helping to design the new gates for the school. They display wildlife images crafted in metal echoing our wildlife garden.”
An extensive consultation process was carried out by Bromley Council, as part of its Primary Schools’ Development Plan.
