VCD showed great character to come back from two goals down on two occasions to eventually win a topsy turvy game of high drama.
Vickers started the game brightly on a very heavy muddy pitch, creating chances straight from kick off with Nick Hegley whipping in crosses at will.
From a period of pressure Aaron Firth and then Anthony Hogg were denied at close range and only minutes later a cross from Hegley was deflected by the defender onto his post for a corner.
A header from Leroy Huggins hit the bar and an Anthony Hogg drive skimmed the post.
Two goalmouth scrambles resulted in corners for VCD as Saturday's terrible luck in front of goal appeared to be continuing.
It was all one way traffic before VCD's first act of Hari Kari as Jason Barton passed to Lee Maskell who gave the ball away in his own half and the ball was quickly fed to Leyton's forward who shot home via James Tedder's legs.
Then only ten minutes later the normally reliable Kevin Watson slipped allowing his marker to turn and drive home again via Tedder's legs.
With minutes of the half left a free kick was headed off the bar by Firth and Barton reacted quickest to head home off the bar.
There was still time for Leyton to restore a 2 goal advantage however as the returning Kane Rice sold Tedder short with a back pass and the Leyton wide left player slotted home.
Half Time VCD 1 Leyton 3 VCD sensed a comeback however given the one way traffic of the first half and started on fire in second half laying seige on Leyton's goal.
It was only ten minutes into the half when Kane Rice was released by Huggins and whipped in a great cross for Firth to slot home for the goal of the game.
It took some time for the equaliser to follow which came when Ward fed Hogg who played a perfect reverse pass for Hegley who slotted home for his 12th of the season.
Firth was then released through on goal by Hogg but his low shot was well saved by the Leyton keeper.
The winner came with 15 minutes to play as Hegley beat two players before crossing to Huggins who flicked on for Firth to head home in the top right corner to make it 4-3.
There was still time for sub Reece Walsh to lay the ball off to Huggins who sent a right foot effort goalbound but the keeper tipped it over the bar.
Leyton piled men forward in search of the equaliser but apart from one shot which slid across goal the Vickers defence held firm to record a remarkable comeback in a very strange night of football.
