AN airport fire service has become a member of the British Fire Services Association (BFSA) during a special ceremony.
Membership of the association has been granted to Biggin Hill Airport’s fire service in recognition of its commitment to the safety of passengers, pilots and airport staff.
The BFSA observed the airport fire team has consistently shown true professionalism and often taken the lead role in the rapid response to off-airfield aircraft accidents.
BFSA London district chairman, Steve Mansell, said senior airport fire officer Andy Mellers and his team had to be praised for their contribution to the local community.
He added: “We recognise and applaud your dedicated efforts to build fire safety awareness within the local community, including visits from schools and youth groups, which also promotes fire safety as a career path.”
