HUNDREDS of youngsters teamed up to scale Mount Everest - without ever leaving the relative safety of a shopping centre.
The Mount Everest Team Challenge brought together 60 teams of young people from youth and sports clubs, Scout and Guide groups and schools to climb an eight metre climbing wall.
More than 250 young people climbed the wall in The Glades shopping centre, Bromley, on February 17.
It was enough to scale a total of 7,200m - double the distance from Mount Everest's base camp to its summit.
The challenge allowed each team to climb for 30 minutes and was organised by the Bromley Youth Service.
Bromley Council’s executive councillor for children and young people Ernest Noad said: “It is brilliant to see so many young people come together to take part in such a positive and rewarding challenge.”
