KEEPING fit is set to become a more enjoyable experience as two leisure centres undergo a makeover after a multi-million pound cash injection.
Gravesham Community Leisure Ltd (GCLL) has agreed a deal with Gravesham Council to run the Cascades and Cygnet leisure centres for another 10 years, and is pumping £2.5 into improving them.
At Cascades in Thong Lane, Gravesend, work has begun on a state-of-the-art 144 station fitness suite, which is expected to open in spring.
The fitness suite at Cygnet in Old Perry Street, Northfleet, has already received a makeover, including 72 pieces of new gym equipment, and is open to the public.
Gravesham Council’s lead member for leisure, Councillor David Turner, said: “These new gym facilities will help to sustain the leisure centres for the foreseeable future.
“This will enable other community activities to prosper at these sites.”
