Gallions Housing Association in Thamesmead has signed up to the 10:10 campaign aimed at helping people and organisations to reduce their carbon emissions by 10 per cent this year. It has a dedicated in-house team tackling green issues, including monitoring energy useage and encouraging Gallions’ staff to do their bit to protect the environment.
More than 250,000 walking guides - almost one every two minutes - were downloaded from the National Trust website in the last year. The figures are nearly double the previous year and the trust claims this shows people are walking for recreation more than ever. Head of access and recreation Jo Burgon said: “We've tried to cater for a wide range of walkers with everything from short circular routes to the more challenging hill walks."
