A 22-YEAR-OLD man has died after the car he was travelling in hit a bus in Elmers End.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Long Lane, Croydon Road and Tannery Close at around 3.30pm on Saturday (February 20.
They found a blue Ford Fiesta had struck a route 367 bus carrying five people.
Fire crews managed to pull a man - thought to be the driver of the car - clear of the wreckage but he died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.
He has been named as William Cullen from Bromley.
A post mortem examination carried out this morning revealed Mr Cullen died from serious head injuries.
The accident happened on the Croydon and Bromley border and an air ambulance was sent to the scene.
Part of Long Lane was closed by police for much of the afternoon.
The London Ambulance Service says a teenage girl on the bus was taken to Mayday Hospital, Croydon, with minor injuries.
The other passengers were checked over at the scene.
