Reporter VICKI FOSTER jumped at the chance to go on a ghost hunt in Chislehurst Caves. But she found herself very worried when she actually went on it.

TRYING to communicate with ghosts in pitch black caves is not my usual Saturday night out.

So, when I got the chance to join ghost hunting company London Paranormal at Chislehurst Caves in Old Hill, I was all for it.

However, as the event drew closer my nerves got the better of me.

I was dreading going alone so I managed to persuade two of my friends, Yana Barrett and Stevie Masters, to join me.

Having never taken part in a ghost hunt before, I did not know what to expect.

Beforehand we were told some scary tales of events at the caves, including one about a man who had his arm ripped off while sleeping there during an all-night challenge.

After Stevie and I exchanged quick, nervous glances, off we went to the section of caves known as “the priest’s” area.

When the torches went off for the first time it was so hard to see anything. In fact, throughout the whole experience I could not see much.

The guide began by telling a story about a little girl called Megan, and then tried contacting her.

All of a sudden there was a sweet, flower-like smell and Yana complained I had pulled her hair.

I assured her it was not me as I was holding a chair.

We then moved to “the infirmary” round the corner, where one man in the group started coughing furiously and had to be taken out.

The second location we visited is known as “the altar” and was where the most activity happened.

Sitting in the darkness, our guide tried to contact spirits and it appears he did just that.

Each time he asked a question and requested a response there was a thud, sometimes two. They seemingly came from the thick rock.

At one point there was a distinctive growl, and we were told a “wolf” spirit was present in the caves.

Before getting to “the hospital” location, something further down the cave caught my eye and I could have sworn I saw someone move, only to look again and see the mannequin of a child.

It turned out there was a group of mannequins there. The guide called out and the response was a few quiet taps, and then a noise like chanting or singing.

We assumed it was one of the other groups, but they came through on the radio saying they could hear it and asked if it was us.

Yana then started complaining of a very bad toothache, and another woman said her knee was really hurting.

As soon as we left “the hospital”, their pain disappeared.

At the last location, near the haunted swimming pool, we used a ouija board, which appeared to move on its own.

Much of it did not make sense but whatever it was it claimed to be Megan.

We stayed in each location for about an hour. It was a really good night, and I do believe something happened down there. I’m just not too sure what.
